Catholic Parishes Campaign training sessions scheduled in diocese

By PAUL R. LEINGANG (Message editor)

Editor’s note: The following information was previously published Jan. 16.

Want to know more about how parishes pay for diocesan operations? And what the funds are used for?

Five training sessions are planned in the next several weeks, designed for Catholic Parishes Campaign coordinators and parish staff, but also open to any parishioner interested.

“At least two factors make this year’s Catholic Parishes Campaign particularly important,” said C. Justin Clements, diocesan director of stewardship and development.

Clements, along with Bob Cox, diocesan treasurer, will present the training sessions in Washington, Dale, Bicknell, Evansville and Fort Branch.

Clements cited the “current U.S. and diocesan economic conditions” and “the onset of a diocesan-wide strategic planning process to guide our diocese through the next few years of transition between bishops.”

In an e-mail message to par-ishes, Clements said, “Because of these circumstances, we strongly urge pastors, CPC chairpersons, and other parish leaders (including parish sec-retaries and others who pro-cess your parish’s pledges) to attend.”

Treasurer Bob Cox will present the opening segment which is a review of the proposed diocesan budget and its impact on CPC.

Dates and locations:

Monday, Feb. 16: Our Lady of Hope, Washington, in the CCW Offices, 315 NE Third;

Tuesday, Feb. 17: St. Joseph, Dale, in the parish hall;

Thursday, Feb. 19: St. Philip Neri, Bicknell, in the church basement.

Tuesday, Feb. 24: Catholic Center, Evansville;

Thursday, Feb. 26: Holy Cross Church, Fort Branch, in the cafeteria.

All training sessions begin at 7 p.m. local time and will end no later than 9 p.m. The programs are open to all parishioners. Anyone from any parish may attend any session which fits their schedule, but “please be aware of a possible one-hour time difference if you attend a session in another county!” Clements noted.
