Ending hunger
“Hats off to Westside Catho-lic’s fourth through eighth gra-ders,” writes Kris Schroeder, a language arts teacher at West-side Catholic School, Evansville.
“Along with two businesses, Niemeier Eye Care, and Nie-meier, Will, and Freeman, and the Chicago Bears Fan Club, the students raised $630 for Heifer International.
“As you know, Heifer sends livestock, trees, and bees along with the training needed to use these valuable gifts all over the world. With the money raised, two shares of a heifer and two shares of a water buffalo, two goats, one sheep, two shares of a pig, a flock of geese and a flock of chickens, and two hives of bees were purchased.
“These will be sent out globally in order to help those in need help themselves. We are blessed with much, and it is very gratifying to know that our students are so willing to share their wealth.”

Letter from Iraq
Good Shepherd School in Evansville has received a thank you from Greg Lynch, who is currently stationed in Iraq:
To the Faculty, Students, and Parents at Good Shepherd:
Thank you so much for all your letters, cards, packages and prayers. My fellow Marines and I have enjoyed all of them, and we appreciate your support and prayers from home. We spent our Christmas Eve and Day on the Syrian border doing security checks, so it was very different from the ones we have known back in the US. A local hospital was able to put together a form of BBQ for our Christmas dinner.
We are looking forward to coming back home in late spring. If I am able to get home while you are still in school, I will be sure to stop in and thank all of you in person.
Thanks again.
- 2nd LT Greg Lynch
