Comprehensive heart screening
St. Mary’s Heart Institute offers complete heart and stroke screenings the first and third Thursday of every month, reserving the fourth Thursday for a special Women Only screening day held at St. Mary’s Breast Center. Results are available immediately with nurse counseling.
- Comprehensive Heart Screening includes:
- Total cholesterol
- HDL level (good cholesterol)
- LDL (bad cholesterol)
- Triglycerides
- Blood sugar
- Blood pressure
- Weight and Body Mass Index
- Cost is $30
For an additional $5, a Stroke Assessment will be added to your Comprehensive Heart Screening. Total cost is $35. Personal body fat analysis can be included for a total of $40.
- The Stroke Assessment includes:
- Risk assessment
- Carotid artery check
- Rhythm check
- Cost is $5
Participants will need to fast for 12 hours but may take medication and water. It is recommended that you refrain from any alcohol intake for three days prior to the test.

- Peripheral Vascular Screening
- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) refers to narrowing in the blood vessels that carry blood to the legs, arms, abdomen or kidneys, caused from plaque build up.
St. Mary’s offers the following vascular screenings:
- Ankle Brachial Index screening on the second Thursday of each month. No charge.
- Comprehensive Doppler screening on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. This is a non-invasive Doppler screening of the neck, abdomen and legs to detect the presence of peripheral vascular disease. Cost is $60.
