The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, Lawrence A. Vieck Assembly, in Washing-ton, celebrated its twenty-first Vocation Appreciation Dinner on Feb. 12.
“As in the past, designated seminarians and novices are recognized and each given a $500 monetary gift to help with their education costs,” said Brenda Sobecki, director of development for the Catholic Community of Washington.
Sobecki said this year’s awards were presented to
- Julia Allison, presented by Sue Garrett for the Ladies Aux-iliary, and accepted by Marg-aret, Kent and Kevin Allison.
- Mitch Strange, presented by George Wilz of Washington Council 630.
- Josh McCarty, presented by Jim Greene of the Lawrence A. Vieck Fourth Degree Assembly and George Wilz of Council 630, and accepted by Cynthia and Greg McCarty.
- Ryan Hilderbrand presented by Jim Greene and accepted by Deacon Dennis and Terri Hilderbrand.
- Julia Allison and Mitch Strange, presented by Tom Long of Linton Council 6679.
“Each recipient that could not attend had their parents update [their progress] or show a video on how each one was doing,” Sobecki said. “Mitch Strange was present and gave a special witness on how he has been inspired on his faith journey in becoming a priest.”
The program was originated in 1988 and has been a very successful venture with the Linton Knights of Columbus.
