People We Care About

Following is a feature in the Message, designed to help draw together the People of God in southwestern Indiana. Readers are invited to submit information about people who may benefit by some extra prayers and attention.


Providence Sister Jean Karier, 94, died March 7 at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence in 1932, and made her final vows in 1940. She ministered for 46 years in education, her teaching assignments included Sacred Heart School, Evansville, from 1940 to 1943, Assumption School, Evansville, from 1943 to 1944, and St. John School, Loogootee, from 1945 to 1953.

A Mass of Christian burial was held March 11 at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
