Free concert at St. Ben’s on Saturday
The Crown College Choirs and Brass (from Minnesota) will be performing a free concert at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville on Sat-urday, March 14, at 7 p.m.
The ensembles have toured internationally and have made several concert and TV appearances around the United States.

Join the choir for Chrism Mass
An invitation to join the Diocesan Choir is being issued by Jeremy Korba, the choir’s di-rector, for the diocesan Chrism Mass on Tues-day, April 7, at 5:30 p.m. CDT
“The Chrism Mass is a great opportunity for parishes of our diocese to come together and watch the blessing of the holy oils and to support the priests of the diocese as they renew their commitment of service,” Korba said. “Just come to the rehearsals and participate,” Korba said. Rehearsals are at St. Benedict Cathedral on Sundays, March 29 and April 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. CDT.

Monastery is site of “Trivial Pursuit” fundraiser
Billed as “A very good time — for a very good cause,” the Abbey Press/St. Meinrad Archabbey Relay For Life team in North Spen-cer County will be holding its sixth annual Trivial Pursuit Contest as a fundraiser.
The event will be held April 4, 6:30 to 9:30 pm CDT, at the Archabbey Guest House and Retreat Center Dining Room. It will feature a three-game round robin Trivial Pursuit contest, with the winning team taking home $50. Each team may consist of any two to five players. Participants are invited to organize their own teams or may choose to be assigned to a team.
The suggested donation is $15 per person, with all net proceeds going to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Light snacks and soft drinks will be provided. Last year’s event drew a total of eight teams, with participants from Spencer, Dubois, and Perry counties vying for the Trivial Pursuit championship.

Outdoor Way of the Cross in Evansville
The Communion and Liberation movement in Evansville is once again leading the Way of the Cross in Evansville on Good Friday, April 10. The general public is invited to participate.
The outdoor procession will begin at the Four Freedoms Monument on the downtown riverfront at 3:30 p.m. Participants will continue to Holy Trinity Church, Evansville.
The Way of the Cross, also called the Stations of the Cross, is a kind of a pilgrimage to the chief scenes of Christ’s suffering and death.

St. Mary’s announces new appointment
Rachel Spalding has accepted the position of director, Clinical Support Services at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Her new role will be-come effective March 16. Spalding will be res-ponsible for Admissions and Transfers, Central Transport Services, Vascular Access and Nursing Administration.
Spalding received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Morehead State Uni-versity. She most recently served as the Re-cruitment, Retention and Recognition Co-ordinator for St. Mary’s.
Disaster preparedness program scheduled
Dwayne Caldwell of the Vanderburgh Coun-ty Health Department will present a program on Disaster/Hazmat Preparedness, at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center Auditorium, Tuesday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
Caldwell, who has worked many natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina, will explain how to prepare for, respond to, and survive multiple disaster situations. Respon-ses for Hazmat accidents are very different from responses to severe weather.
This program is age appropriate for high school students and adults. Vanderburgh County 4-H Leaders, with assistance from the 4-H Center, are sponsoring this presentation.
