People We Care About

Following is a feature in the Message, designed to help draw together the People of God in southwestern Indiana. Readers are invited to submit information about people who may benefit by some extra prayers and attention.


Providence Sister Jean Arkenberg, 85, died March 8.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence in 1941, and made her final vows in 1949.

During her 68 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered as a teacher for 55 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Missouri and Washington, D.C.

From 1943 to 1944 she taught at St. John the Baptist in Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial was held March 13 at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
