School Notebook
Administrative assistant
“I am very pleased to an-nounce that Rhonda Schroeder has accepted the position of administrative assistant for the Catholic Schools Office,” said Donna Halverson, director.
“Rhonda is currently serving as the parish secretary for Holy Spirit Church in Evansville. In addition to her parish work, she has had considerable experience working with our schools. I am very grateful to Father Dusty for his cooperation in this transition.”
New staff
Melba Wilderman, principal at St. Joseph Church, Vanderburgh County, announces the following changes in the pre-school program:
- Nancy Joyce is now the teacher for the three year olds;
- Michelle Duncan is assisting on Tuesday and Thursday morning;
- Saundra Sweeney will teach the pre-kindergarten on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fri-days.
Key Club
Key Club officers at Memorial High School, Evansville, for the 2009-2010 school year include Olivia O’Dell, president; Cait-lyn Hammack, vice-president; Evan Ziebell, secretary, and Katie Loehr, treasurer.

Mater Dei freshman Abigail Scheller’s poem “Horses in the Moonlight” has been chosen for inclusion in the 2008 edition of Autumn Voices Creative Writing and Illustration, which is published by Vincennes Uni-versity.
All God’s children
During the next several weeks, students in kindergarten through grade five at Good Shepherd School, Evansville, will participate in a variety of activities to gain an awareness, appreciation and understanding of the gifts God has given all His children.
Good Shepherd teachers Jen-ny Masterson and Lynn Schees-sele were awarded a Rotary grant to help fund the various projects and activities.
Silver
Zach Grewe has received a silver rating at the solo and en-semble contest in Indianapolis. He is a student at Holy Family School, Jasper.
Collecting pennies
“We collected over $92 in pennies during our Abraham Lincoln project,” reports Nancy Mills, principal at Holy Spirit School, Evansville. “We will be purchasing a $100 brick from the Ronald McDonald house here in Evansville.”
State-wide bee
Jordan Rhodes, a sixth grader at Holy Rosary School, Evansville, has qualified for the state-wide geography bee. To qualify, Jordan had to score in the top 100 of all school bee winners in Indiana.
