Bishop to preside at Morning Prayer

As a way of continuing Holy Week preparations for the great celebration of Easter, Bishop Gerald A. Gettelfinger will celebrate Morning Prayer on Good Friday and Holy Saturday mornings at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville at 9 a.m.

Morning Prayer is part of the daily cycle of prayer for the Church. It will consist of the singing of psalms and canticles, reading of Scripture and prayers of intercession. All are welcome to come and join in this beautiful prayer of the Church.

Holy Thursday schedule

The Sisters of St. Benedict have submitted a change in the time of Holy Thursday Mass from what was published earlier. On Holy Thursday, April 9, the Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at the monastery in Ferdinand.

New address for Father Schroering

Father Ray Schroering, a retired priest of the Diocese of Evansville, has a new address. He moved from Villa Maria to Little Sisters of the Poor, March 31.

His new address is 1236 Lincoln Ave., Apartment 2012, Evansville, IN 47714. His phone number is (812) 464-9477.

Medical office to open in Huntingburg

An open house at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s new Memorial Medical Office of Huntingburg is scheduled for the public on Wednesday, April 15.

After the facility is blessed by Benedictine Father Mark O’Keefe, it will be open from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. EDT for tours and refreshments.

The 15,100 square foot medical office facility, which was constructed by Seufert Construc-tion of Ferdinand, is located at 407 East 22nd Street in Huntingburg on a master-planned site that provides for additional building structures. The multi-story brick building has at-grade access and parking for each level.  The upper level includes twelve exam rooms and office space for four doctors. The lower level has staff facilities as well as space for two additional tenants.

Building tenants include family practice physicians Dr. Greg Ellison, Dr. Mary Burg-eson, Dr. Leroy Schaefer and the staff of the Huntingburg Clinic, who relocated their off-ices to the new building in early March.

Ray Snowden, Memorial’s president and CEO, said the new building “is designed efficiently and will give us room to expand as the community’s needs change and grow.”

New doctor in network

Damon Cobb, a Doctor of Osteopathic Med-icine, is joining St. Mary’s Physician Network. Dr. Cobb is a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residency at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.

Dr. Cobb’s practice is located at 910 South Hebron Avenue. New patients are being accepted.

Colon Screening for Life run and walk

St. Mary’s Medical Center is sponsoring the 2009 Colon Screening for Life Run and Walk, Sturday, April 11, at 9 a.m., at the Eykamp Scout Center.

Applications being accepted for Providence Associates

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods are currently accepting applications from persons interested in becoming Providence Associates for the 2009-2010 year.

Providence Associates are women and men (at least 18 years of age) of diverse faith traditions who seek a formal relationship with the Sisters of Providence. They may have known the sisters for a long time or have just recently heard about the sisters. Associates are drawn to this relationship with the Sisters of Prov-idence for many reasons, but primarily, they wish to deepen their spiritual life and they see themselves as being called to respond to the Providence vision through their own particular way of life.
