People We Care About

Following is a feature in the Message, designed to help draw together the People of God in southwestern Indiana. Readers are invited to submit information about people who may benefit by some extra prayers and attention.

In a recent e-mail, Bishop Gerald A. Gettelfinger writes, “Father Ray Schroering was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital yesterday [April 1].

“I saw him this afternoon and asked if he would like for me to let you all know. He said he didn’t need a lot of visitors, but I reassured him that you could all be praying for him if you knew.

“Also continue to keep Father Ray Reising, Father Firmus Dick and Father John Lefler and Monsignor Clinton Hirsch in your prayers. Monsignor Clint is about to celebrate another birthday.” [Msgr. Hirsch celebrated his ninety-first birthday on April 5.]

Poor Clare Sister Mary Anthony Wilson died April 4, 2009, at the Poor Clare Monastery in Evansville.

She was born Geneva Mae Ther-esa Wilson on April 17, 1918, and entered the monastery in 1940.

During her years as a Poor Clare, she served with her prayers, many years as organist, portress, community secretary. She worked in the Altar Bread Department, and on the Lead-ership Council.

A Mass of the Resurrection was held April 7 in the monastery cha-pel, with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
