History of Mater Dei
Mater Dei principal Timothy Dickel has asked religion tea-cher John McMullen to edit a commemorative book detailing the school’s history as part of the sixty-year celebration.
In the school newsletter, Dick-el wrote, “In researching the history of Mater Dei from its beginning in the late 1940s all the way to 2009, we are looking for your memories, stories and other narratives that convey something of the essence of what Mater Dei is and continues to mean for her students, alumni and family.
“We are also looking for testimony how Mater Dei prepared her graduates for the working world. How did your short time at Mater Dei — once you left the relative safety within its structure, regimen, rigidity, rules, regulations, schedule, procedures, culture, customs, and traditions — help prepare you for life goals? What advice might you have for current students? As for those graduates who became teachers — what or who were the guiding in-fluences or inspirations that helped you decide to become a teacher? What advice might you have for current Mater Dei students?”
