St. Mary’s Feeding Disorders Program
St. Mary’s Feeding Disorders Program offers the first and only behaviorally-based intensive day therapy program in this region. Treatment starts with a comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary team trained by the Marcus Institute in Atlanta, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins’ Kennedy Krieger Hospital.
Contributing team members include: Psychologist, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Nutritionist, Speech, Occupational and Recreational Therapists, Registered Nurse, and Family Advocate. This program is led by Dr. Elizabeth Clawson, a nationally recognized pediatric feeding expert.
Services offered include:
- Multidisciplinary assessment and consultation clinic
- Outpatient services 1-2 days per week with Speech and Occupational Therapists and Nutritionists
- Intensive Day Treatment — daily outpatient visits to treatment center for all day therapy by feeding specialists including three meals and three snacks per day
- Inpatient treatment for medically fragile children
Children who should be referred:
- Failure to thrive
- Poor weight gain
- Feeding tube dependence
- Food aversion
- Resistance to increasing food textures
- Extreme pickiness that lasts more than a few weeks
