Waters of Baptism
Holy water bottles are being made available to each household at St. Peter Church, Mont-gomery, and All Saints Church, Cannelburg by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, according to the parish bulletin.
Parishioners are encouraged to take one of the filled Holy Water bottles to their homes and use them to “bless your home and one another. The primary meaning of Holy Water is that it reminds us of the waters of Baptism.
“We were washed clean of original sin and received new life in Baptism. Through the waters of Baptism, we have Christ’s power to do good and turn away from evil. Thus, Holy Water is sprinkled on a person or place to ward off the presence of any evil.”

Tennis news
Mater Dei student Megan Prickett has received the Kiwanis award for tennis.
Jamie Tekoppel and Claire Alvey are first team all city, and Megan Prickett is second team all city.
53 years
Congratulations to Frank and Nina Marczak who recently celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary. They are parishioners at St. Philip Neri Church, Bicknell.
20 years of service
Joyce Messersmith completed her twentieth year of service in diocesan schools at the end of the 2008-2009 school year. She served one year, 1973 to 1974, at St. Theresa School, Evansville, and has taught at Holy Redee-mer School, Evansville, for 19 years.
In the May 29 issue of the Message, a listing was given of diocesan teachers’ years of service.
