Students from Memorial High School, Evansville, and their theatre teacher Beth Edmondson recently attended The New Harmony Project’s High School outreach day.

“For the last 10 years, NHP has invited area high school theatre students and their teacher to spend a full day at the project,” said Joan David, administrative director.

“Their morning was spent attending rehearsals of the three full development plays. They then lunched with the writers, actors, board of directors, staff and the 16 University of Evansville college theatre interns.

“The afternoon session included two workshops, an actor’s workshop led by David Hudson and a musical theatre workshop led by musicians and writers in residence Lance Horne and Debra Bar-sha.”

Memorial student Emily Durchholz said, “The musical theatre workshop was the best. The two musicians balanced each other so well and were immensely inspiring and en-couraging.”

Beth Edmondson said, “My kids and I had another wonderful day! They said that they feel like they have more enthusiasm for next school year because of everyone’s energy at the conference! They were so excited about the day’s events!

“They talked the whole way home about it.”
