Benedictine sister to observe silver jubilee
Benedictine Sister Susan Ann Necas will celebrate the 25th anniversary of her profession of monastic vows at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand on July 18. Benedictine Father Bede Cisco will preside at the 1 p.m. jubilee Mass in the monastery church, and Benedicitine Sister Eileen Reckelhoff will give the reflection. A reception for family and friends will follow the ceremony.
Sister Susan Ann, a native of Detroit Lakes, Minn., entered the monastery from Safford, Ariz., in 1982. She made her first profession of monastic vows in 1984 and her final profession in 1987. She has a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Evansville. She taught music at St. Wendel and at Resurrection, Evansville, where she also served as the liturgist. She taught religion and music at the former Marian Heights Academy in Ferdinand. Currently, she teaches music at the Washington Catholic schools in Washington.
