Free physicals, immunizations
The School-Community Council, in collaboration with St. Mary’s Children’s Services, Vanderburgh County Department of Health, ECHO Community Health Care and the Courier and Press Young Reader Services, will sponsor free school physicals and immunizations for uninsured children in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The event is scheduled for 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th at St. Mary’s Center for Children located at 3900 Washington Avenue in Evansville. This is the second year St. Mary’s Center for Children has hosted the back-to-school health fair.
School physicals and immunizations will be provided free of charge for school-age children who are residents of Vanderburgh County. These services are available for any school-aged child without insurance.
The student must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must have a current immunization record.
Pediatric psychologist joins network
Dr. Sandy Bowersox, a pediatric psychologist, is joining St. Mary’s Physician Network. She will begin seeing patients at St. Mary’s Center for Children.
Dr. Bowersox graduated Summa Cum Lau-de from Murray State University in Murray, Ky. in May of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts de-gree in both Psychology and Spanish. She re-ceived her Master of Sci-ence degree in Clinical Psychology from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. in December of 2004 and her Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph. D.) in Clinical Psychology from St. Louis Uni-versity in January of 2008.
Dr. Bowersox recently completed the Lovick C. Miller Fellowship in Pediatric/Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Louisville’s School of Medicine in Louisville, Ky.
She is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Training for Theology of the Body
The Diocese of Owensboro is sponsoring training for catechists of Theology of the Body on Saturday, September 26th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall in Owensboro.
The workshop is designed for anyone planning to teach TOB to teens.

Serra Club correction
Becky Mehling, recently announced as one of the winners of the Youth Service Award sponsored by the Serra Club of Evansville, was incorrectly identified by her parish. She should have been listed as a winner from Mary, Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.
Invitation to diocesan choir
Jeremy Korba, director of liturgical music at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville, is inviting “all singers and instrumentalies in the diocese” to join the Diocesan Choir as twelve men are ordained to the permanent diaconate on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m.
“It is a rewarding and prayerful experience for musicians of ALL skill levels!” Korba said.
Rehearsals are at St. Benedict Cathedral, on Sunday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 9, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
