Father Lintzenich receives NPM Outstanding Pastor Award
Father Steve Lintzenich has received the Outstanding Pastor award from the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.
He is pastor of St. Mary Church, Evansville, sacramental minister and moderator at St. John Church, Evansville, moderator at Good Shepherd Church and St. Joseph Church, both in Evansville, moderator at St. John Chrysostom Church, New Boston, and part-time clergy personnel director.
Paul Schutz, director of worship at St. Mary Church, said, “NPM is a national organization of several thousand liturgical musicians, liturgists, and pastors dedicated to fostering the art of musical liturgy and seeking liturgical excellence.
“The Outstanding Pastor Award recognizes one pastor from the United States who fosters the art of musical liturgy through exemplary pastoral leadership, a collaborative relationship with musicians, and participation in NPM. This is the first year that the Outstanding Pastor Award has been given.”
He said of the pastor “with several sung Eucharistic Prayers under his belt, Father Steve truly seeks well-celebrated musical liturgy. He does not just do it himself, though. He is a team player, a brilliant collaborator who does not rule the roost but empowers his staff and his assembly (as he has for 25 years!) to bring forth the best from his assembly and liturgical ministers.”
Joanne Werner, NPM Board of Directors chairperson, said, “Father Steve really hit the mark on what we were looking for, especially in regard to collaboration. The Outstanding Pastor Award was born out of one of NPM’s strategic objectives, to promote clergy-musician collaboration.”
