People We Care About
Following is a feature in the Message, designed to help draw together the People of God in southwestern Indiana. Readers are invited to submit information about people who may benefit by some extra prayers and attention.
Father Kenneth Walker, judicial vicar, wrote in a recent e-mail, “My dear Sisters and Brothers, It is with much sadness that I let you know that Mary Blanche Blittschau, the mother of Mary Gen Blittschau, died last night at St. Mary’s Medical Center.”
Mary Gen is a judge and assistant to the judicial vicar in the diocesan Tribunal office.
The funeral Mass was held July 13 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in St. Louis.
Lynda Provence provides an e-mail from Teresa and Dave Larres about their daughter Lauren, a former student at St. John the Baptist School in Newburgh. Lauren was in a head-on collision in Oklahoma recently. Lynda is a pastoral associate at the Newburgh parish.
Dear partners in prayer: There have been so many miracles on this journey. Here’s the GREATEST news — Lauren’s talking! And she’s feisty as ever, responding appropriately to questions and even inserting her natural wit. As I look at her today, she is so beautiful and I’m starting to see the Lauren I remember, faith-filled, smiling, not taking no for an answer. I’m curious to see where she’s going to take us as we continue on this new fork in the road.
Now we beseech God for many blessings on each and every one of you for your correspondence, phone calls, and especially your prayers. We have been attending Mass every day and always remember those who have been storming the heavens for our Lauren. We are still amazed but not surprised at God’s hand in this tragedy; He’s gifted us with love, hope, and the peace which surpasses all human understanding. Please don’t stop praying!”
