Principals named at Christ the King, Precious Blood schools

Two new principals have been named for the 2009-2010 school year, according to Donna Halverson, diocesan director of schools.

Sister Mary Karen Bahlmann will become the principal at Christ the King School in Evansville, and Joseph M. Brake is the new principal at Precious Blood School in Jasper.

Sister Mary Karen is a Sister of Divine Providence; her motherhouse is in Covington, Ky. She holds a master’s degree in elementary education with a counseling endorsement and a master’s degree in administration and supervision/curriculum from the University of Dayton.

Her administrative experience includes St. Bernard School in Crawfordsville, Ind., Sacred Heart School in Jefferson, Ind., St. Thomas School in Fort Thomas, Ky., and Holy Family School in Ash-land, Ky.

She also served as assistant superintendent of schools in the Diocese of Lafayette in Lafayette, Ind.

Brake holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Indiana University. He has served as an emotional disabilities teacher in the Monroe-Gregg School District, and as an administrator of religious education and youth minister at St. John the Apostle Church in Bloomington, Ind.

His teaching experience also includes working at St. Charles Borromeo School in Bloomington.
