Social Justice Series
Barbara Coyle Williams will be at St. Mary Church in Evansville, Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m., to share her professional and personal experience of social justice in Evansville.
Williams is an attorney and formerly served as prosecuting attorney. She has also served in the public defenders office, and for 10 years she was Vanderburgh Superior Court Mag-istrate.
The general public is invited to the presenation. There is no charge to attend. Light refreshments will be available.
Suicide awareness event
The tri-state has experienced a higher than average suicide rate for several years, according to Janie Chappell, a nurse at Deaconess Cross Pointe in Evansville.
The Southwestern Indiana Suicide Prevention Coalition is sponsoring the fourth annual LifeSavers’ Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk on Sept. 12, at 9:15 a.m., at the Evansville State Hospital.
Proceeds from the walk will assist in offering training in suicide prevention to tri-state residents.

‘Dating My Spouse’
Community Marriage Builders has launched a new campaign designed to encourage married coupls to set a regular date night at least once a month.
CMB is selling buttons for $15; the buttons will allow couples to receive special discounts at local restaurants or other establishments.
The discounts will run from Monday through Thursday starting at 5 p.m. during the second full week of each month. The prgram began in July and runs through December.

End of summer blowout
St. Nicholas Church in Santa Claus is sponsoring an “End of Summer Blowout” featuring Justin Lookadoo, on Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. CST. Youth ages 13 and older are welcome.
Lookadoo is a motivational speaker for students who has conducted over 3,500 presentations. He offers practical steps to live with no regrets by choosing to avoid high risk behaviors.
The event will be held at Lincoln Amphi-theatre inside Lincoln State Park. Live Bands include Formerly Blind of Owensboro, For-given from Evansville, Narrow Path from Jas-per and Faith of Job from Huntingburg.
A free will offering of canned food items or monetary donations will be accepted. T-shirts and concessions will be available. Reduced-rate tickets to Holiday World will be available.

Open house for ‘Friends of Father Earl Rohleder’
An Open House visit with Father Earl Roh-leder will be held at Holy Angels Community Center in New Harmony, on Sept 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT. Featured will be music, snacks, and a silent auction, including some of Father Rohleder’s metal sculpture.

Father Rohleder is a retired priest of the Diocese of Evansville, serving as part time Ministerial Associate at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community in Santa Fe, N.M.,
He describes his sculptures as “folk art sculpture with a wisp of whimsey, and says, “If the recycled metal can bring a small reflection of the grand Paschal Mystery of death and resurrection, then indeed they have been of service once again.”
