Around the Diocese

New property

“The parish of St. John in Loogootee has now purchased the John and Delores Walton house and property at 400 Church St., Loogootee,” reports Father Joseph Erbacher, pastor of the four Martin County parishes.

“I spoke with and showed the bishop the property and he felt it would be a good investment for the parish. In consulting with St. John Parish Council the consensus was that it would be a good purchase for the parish considering further parking needs and whatever would or not happen down the road regarding existence of churches as we now know them today.”

He said the decision was ratified by the parish council, and the purchase was made. “For the present, we will rent the home. No money was borrowed to purchase the home, we withdrew money we had on reserve and deposited at the diocese.”
