Saying thanks

In a letter to parishioners at St. Philip Neri Church in Bick-nell, Deacon Phil Pierpont writes, “I want to express my gratitude to all of you at St. Philip Neri for your generous donation of $625 to cover the full cost of my purple dalmatic. I would also like to thank those individuals who also made an additional, individual gifts for the cost of my other vestments.

“You all have expressed faith in my future service to you as your deacon. I will try to live up to that faith, whether in my assisting at Mass, the proclamation and preaching of the Gospel, or any other service that Father will delegate to me.”

Deacon anniversary

Deacon Donald Haag of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Petersburg, was ordained Sept. 24, 1983.

Parish Council, Cluster Council

Norma Hall, Becky Seng, Bret Mehringer and Randy Seger are the newly-elected members of the Parish Council at St. Raphael Church, Dubois.

New Cluster Council members include Suzanne Neukam and Alan Matheis.

Faith Formation

Josh Wilson is the new chairperson of the Faith Formation Commission at St. Nicholas Church, Santa Claus. Members include Angie Knust, Lisa Wetzel, Amy Priest, Mary Schriefer, Lee Ringeman, Jamie Tapley, Susan Brinkman and Ashley Vinson.

Mater Dei student Michelle Schmitt has been named a Top Ten essayist in the Creative Communication’s Spring 2009 writing contest. Her essay has been was selected for publication in the anthology “Celebrating What Is Important to Me.”
