The web based survey: What to expect
By PAUL R. LEINGANG (Message editor)
Every member of the Diocese of Evansville is invited to participate in the strategic planning survey, available online. Here is what you will find:
First, go to the home page of the diocese, www.evansville-diocese.org
Immediately below the dioc-esan Coat of Arms, you will find these words in red: STRATEGIC PLANNING SURVEY. Click on the words and you will be welcomed to “the Diocese of Evansville Strate-gic Planning Survey,” and the following words of introduction.
“Bishop Gettelfinger has commissioned a Diocesan strategic planning process to re-energize parish life throughout the diocese and to establish a future direction for the diocese over the next five years. This whole effort should take about a year, and this survey is one of our first steps. We are using the following survey questions to collect important information that will be used by the Bishop and his Planning Team as they make decisions about the future. Please be assured that your in-put will be anonymous. Your responses will be compiled with hundreds of others, so you are encouraged to provide direct and candid input. Please enter your response to each question in the box provided. Thank you!”
Click on the “Next” button and you will be given instructions on how to proceed. In part, the instructions “encourage you to be as open and honest as possible to help us get the most accurate information possible so that we can better improve the diocese for everyone.”
The instructions remind the participants that the responses are anonymous.
Clicking on the “Next” button will then take the particpant to two demographic questions: What parish are you from? And, Would you consider yourself to be an active or inactive member of the Church?
Clicking on the “Next” button will take the participant to eight survey questions:
- Describe a situation in your life where the Church has been the most meaningful to you.
- What are the most important trends and changes facing Southern Indiana today and in the next 3-5 years (for example, consider economic, social, demographic, technological, life-style, regulatory and political changes among others)?
- What are the greatest needs in your parish, community or diocese?
- What are the key opportunities for the parish or diocese to build the Church?
- What does your parish or diocese do really well?
- In what areas does your parish or diocese need to improve?
- What is your dream and vision for the diocese (or parish) over the next 3-5 years?
- What other comments do you want to bring to the attention of the Planning Team?
At the completion of the survey, participants are thanked and reminded that they may contact Tim McGuire for any questions or additional comments they have at tmcguire@evdio.org.
