Help for independent lives at home
St. Mary’s At Home has two new products that can help senior citizens lead independent lives at home.
Guardian Medical Monitoring’s Personal Emergency Response System is a medical alarm that can preserve the independence of seniors while offering an immediate response in the first critical moments of an emergency with hands-free two-way communication.
A skilled, friendly professional is as close as the waterproof button worn as a lightweight pendant or wristband. With the push of a button, a Care Representative will immediately answer the call and stay on the phone until help arrives.
Caregivers are notified of emergency alerts and activity reports are available to help keep health care providers informed.
Guardian’s Medication Dispenser eases the stress of complex prescription regimens and simplifies the process. The dispenser organizes medicines and provides reminders for each dose, using a clear automated voice, message on a display screen and flashing lights. If a dose is missed, the system triggers a phone call to alert the caregiver.
To assure safety, the unit’s locking storage compartment limits access to one dose of pills at a time and can hold a supply of up to 40 days of medication. The unit uses a rechargeable back-up battery in the event of a power failure.
For more information, call St. Mary’s Medical Equipment at (812) 485-4600. Services are available and can be arranged seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For after-hours needs, an answering system will take your call and transfer the information to the individual on call who can best assist you.
