Around the Diocese
What does Christmas mean to you?
“During the next few weeks, I challenge you to spend some time reflecting on what Christ-mas means to you,” writes Father Ron Kreilein, pastor at St. Raphael Church, Dubois, and St. Peter Celestine Church, Celestine.
“Is it all about spending big bucks on things that will eventually break and end up in the trash? Or thanking God for the gift of His Son, Jesus.
“May all of us put ‘Christ’ back into Christmas this year.”
Happy Birthday!
Father Robert Wannemuehler, chaplain at Deaconess Hospital, celebrates his birthday Dec. 22. He lives at 1611 S. Bosse, Evansville, IN 47712.
Christmas Eve Mass
“It is with great excitement that the Spiritual Life/Worship Commission for the cluster announces the introduction of a Mass on Christmas Eve with special emphasis on family,” according to the parish newsletter at St. Anthony Church, St. Anthony, and Sacred Heart Church, Schnellville.
“The celebration this year will be held at Sacred Heart Church, with the location alternating each year thereafter.
“In preparation for this celebration the planning committee is asking each family/household in the cluster to make an ornament to be placed on a ‘family tree’ to be located in each parish.”
The ornament should include the family name or in some way identify the family preparing it. Each Sunday during Advent, families were invited to present their ornaments during the Presentation of Gifts, “thus symbolizing their Advent efforts to prepare and make ready for the coming of the Lord.”
