2009 Message Coloring Contest winners are announced

Over 1,000 students in Catholic schools and religious education programs throughout the Diocese of Evansville participated in the annual Message coloring contest, which was open to students in grades kindergarten through four.

Diane Csukas, Message secretary, said she received 1,064 entries from schools, parishes and Message readers.

The grand prize winners include

Reagan Cochren, kindergarten, St. Joseph School, Princeton;
Helaena Pfeiffer, first grade, Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Haubstadt;
Emma Bell, second grade, Holy Rosary School, Evansville;
Allison Compton, third grade, Holy Rosary School, Evansville;
Kaitlyn Kormelink, fourth grade, Good Shepherd School, Evansville.

They each won $20 gift cards from G.D. Ritzy plus classroom ice cream parties.

First place winners include

Lauren Schmitt, kindergarten, St. Philip Church, Posey County;
Monica Steckler, first grade, St. Henry Church, St. Henry;
Rebecca McCarty, second grade, Washington Catholic Elementary School, Washington;
Luc Burch, third grade, St. John Church, Loogootee;
Bradley Jones, fourth grade, Holy Cross School, Fort Branch.

First place winners will each receive $10 in gift cards from G.D. Ritzy.

Second place winners include

Emme Graber, kindergarten, Washington Catholic Elementary School, Washington;
Caleb Dyson, first grade, St. Wendel School, St. Wendel;
Adam Barnes, second grade, Westside Catholic School, Evansville;
Luke Elpers, third grade, St. James School, Haubstadt;
Alex Dodson, fourth grade, St. Raphael Church, Dubois.

They each won $5 in gift cards from G.D. Ritzy.

Third place winners include

Cullen Feldhaus, kindergarten, St. Agnes Church, Evansville;
Rebekah Haas, first grade, St. John the Baptist Church, Newburgh;
Alexis Traylor, second grade, St. Peter Church, Montgomery;
Sarah Fruit, third grade, Good Shepherd School, Evansville;
Dylan Stefanich, fourth grade, Holy Cross School, Fort Branch.

They will each receive a coupon for a double dip ice cream cone from G.D. Ritzy.
