Mass for Life planned Jan. 16 at the Cathedral
The Diocese of Evansville will celebrate a “Mass for Life” at St. Benedict Cathedral, Evansville, on Saturday, Jan. 16 — the weekend before the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., commemorating the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.
The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m., with the Mass in conjuntion with the regular 4:30 Vigil Mass on Saturday.
Father Chris Forler will be the celebrant and homilist. Pro-life coordinators, along with youth and young adults from around the diocese of Evansville will be assisting with Mass.
“The purpose is to unite our prayers with Catholics throughout the country who will be praying during the next week to turn hearts toward Christ, thus bringing an end to abortion and the destruction it causes to all those involved,” according to a flyer being distributed by Catholic Charities and the diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
The primary goal “is to create and sustain respect for hu-man life at every stage of its existence and in every situation,” the flyer stated.
