Mass for Life

The Diocese of Evansville will hold a Mass for Life at St. Benedict Cathedral, Saturday, Jan. 16, at 4:30 p.m., in conjuction with the scheduled parish Mass. Father Chris Forler will preside.

A blessing will be given to pilgrims to the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Youth leadership to meet

The first meeting of the new Youth Leadership Team for the Diocese of Evansville is scheduled at 2 p.m. CDT on Sunday, Jan. 17 at the Catholic Center in Evansville, according to Steve Dabrowski, diocesan director of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry.

“This is an exciting move for our diocese, and we look forward to the involvement of those who wish to see youth and young adult ministry thrive,” Dabrowski said.

Any youth or young adult interested in being a part of creating and planning youth/young adult ministry in the diocese is welcome to attend.

Members of the former Youth Leadership Team are encouraged to attend to show their support.

Hospitality in Your Congregation

The Center for Congregations in Evansville invites congregation leaders from Indiana to a luncheon series about hospitality and welcoming.

Participants may attend individual events or all three.

  • Learning Hospitality from the Benedic-tines, on Wednesday, Jan. 20, with Benedictine Sisters Barbara L. Schmitz and Kathy Huber.
  • Welcoming from the Heart, on Wednes-day, Feb. 3, facilitated by Pat Koch, President of Holiday World and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus.
  • From First Visit through First Year, on Wednesday, March 3, with Janet Brown, Welcome and Assimilation Coordinator at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel.

Sessions are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Central time and include lunch, a book, presentation and time for conversation about your ideas on the topic. The cost is $10 per session or $25 for the whole series. Each event will be held at First Pres-byterian Church, 609 S.E. Second St., Evansville. 

National Catholic Youth Choir applications available

The 2010 National Catholic Youth Choir is currently accepting student applications. See www.CatholicYouthChoir.org for forms and information for the program from St. John’s University, School of Theology-Seminary in Collegeville, Minn.

Daylight follow-up

As a follow-up to the Jan. 8 story about “Homecoming in Daylight,” the Message notes that the tabernacle mentioned in the article was donated by a couple at St. John the Evangelist Church in memory of their parents.
