Wedding anniversary meal

Couples at St. Joseph Church, Dale, St. Nicholas Church, Santa Claus, and Mary, Help of Christians Church, Mariah Hill, are all invited to attend a wedding anniversary meal on Feb. 13 in Mariah Hill.

The meal is open to couples who are celebrating an anniversary of five year increments and 50-plus years of marriage, according to Father John Bros-mer.

“This is the first time for our three parishes to come together to celebrate this event.”

Anniversaries in Ferdinand

Congratulations to Marvin and Toni Weyer, parishioners at St. Ferdinand Church, Fer-dinand, as they celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary.

Altar Society

Diane Harpenau is president of the Altar Society at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Haubstadt. Barb Anslinger and Kris Lutz are members.

Published poets

Junior Kristen Cox and freshman Kate Whitaker have had their poems chosen for publication in Creative Communication’s anthology A Celebration of Poets. Kristen’s poem is entitled “Morn,” and Kate’s poem is called “Letter to Spring.”

They are students at Mater Dei High School, Evansville.

Collecting cans

Students at Precious Blood School, Jasper, have collected over 3,000 canned goods for the food bank. The fifth graders won the competition by collected 1,105 items.

Fourth

St. James students Martin Coyle and Austin Elpers have placed fourth in southern Indiana in the fall edition of the Stock Market game.

56 years

Congratulations to Bill and Irma Westfall as they celebrate their fifty-sixth wedding anni-versary. They are parishioners at St. Philip Neri Church, Bicknell.

Thank you

A note in the parish bulletin at Holy Redeemer Church, Evansville, notes, “Holy Re-deemer Knights of Columbus Council 12541 would like to extend a most gracious thank you to our Holy Redeemer parish family.

“With your help and strong support, we were able to make 2009 a very successful year.

“This past year, our brother Knights and fellow parishioners logged a total of 5,810 volunteer hours distributed between both council and church related activities. The Knights were also able to give back $11,500 to the parish and other related organizations.”

Student teacher

Jessica Higgins is student teaching at Good Shepherd School, Evansville, this semester.
