People We Care About
Following is a feature in the Message, designed to help draw together the People of God in southwestern Indiana. Readers are invited to submit information about people who may benefit by some extra prayers and attention.
• Benedictine Sister Jennifer Dippel, 63, died March 9 at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.
She was born October 26, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana, the second of eight children of Francis and Gertrude (Foster) Dippel.
She entered the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand in 1964 and made her final profession in 1971.
She is survived by her mother who lives in Evansville; two brothers, Joseph Dippel and Dr. Jim Dippel, both of Evansville; and five sisters, Janice Verplank of Indianapolis, Jackie Rich-ards and Jennifer Knaebel, both of Mount Vernon, and Joan McCord and Jean Baker, both of Evansville.
Beginning in 1967, Sister Jennifer taught at St. Mary School, Huntingburg, and continued at Holy Rosary School, Evansville.
She worked as a physical therapist, beginning in 1975, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Huntingburg, Welborn Hospital, Evansville, and at the monastery in Ferdinand.
She was coordinator of clinical education and staff development for Rehabilitation Services at St. Mary’s Health Care Services, Evansville.
Since 2003, she has served as director of Rehabilitation Services and safety officer at St. Paul Hermitage, Beech Grove, Indiana.
The funeral Mass was held March 12 at Monastery Im-maculate Conception.
