Lilly Endowment
“This year Memorial submitted several applications for the Lilly Endowment Scholarship,” said Gwen Godsey, principal.
“The Scholarship Committee relayed to the Counseling Office that they were impressed by the quality of each applicant. As always, the competition was tough.
“Of the 10 Vanderburgh County seniors who will interview with the Foundation to determine the county’s winner, four were from Memorial this year — Caitlyn Hammack, daughter of Rashelle and Chadwick Hammack, Andrew Kasha, son of Rebecca and Edwin Kasha, Olivia O’Dell, daughter of Tim and Barbarina O’Dell, and William Sievern, son of Will-iam and Luann Sievern.
Regional winner
Resurrection fourth grader Samantha Kirsch has been selected as a regional winner in the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI).
The IVCI recognizes and promotes the world’s young classic violinists. Along with the musical awards, other educational activities include a multi-disciplinary approach to visual art education. Samantha’s artwork will now go to Indianapolis to be judged with the other regional art winners.

Progress
“I am extremely happy to report the progress and im-provements being made to the ‘St. Joseph Annex’ (used to be Bramble Conservation Club),” writes Father Joseph Erbacher, pastor of the four Martin Coun-ty churches.
“From the condition it was at time of acceptance and the present renewed condition — it appears as a ‘miraculous’ transformation! I am looking forward with great excitement and joy for the first parish event in order that the proud parishioners of St Joseph Parish can see and present their newly acquired property.
“Lots of volunteers, individually and communally, have donated lots of volunteer hours towards this renovation. Work on the church at St. Joseph is continuing; it would appear to me we are still several months away from completion.”
