During its 22nd annual Service Recognition Banquet on April 7, St. Meinrad Archabbey honored 78 active co-workers and 49 retirees who have 25 years or more of service.

Benedictine Archabbot Justin DuVall addressed those attending the banquet. “I can recall seeing a photograph of the Archabbey Church when it was being built, and standing there were monks, as well as many co-workers. It’s a great testimony to the cooperation that has been part of St. Meinrad’s past and will, hopefully, be part of our future. We want to express our deep gratitude to all of you for your dedication to the work of St. Meinrad.”

Five co-workers received special recognition during the banquet.

• Janet Braunecker of St. Meinrad was honored for reaching 40 years of service. She works as an administrative assistant for Physical Facilities. She received a double set of specially minted solid silver coins depicting St. Meinrad, the martyr of hospitality, on the front and the archabbey’s coat of arms on the back.

• Recognized for reaching 25 years of service were: Kim Aders of Bristow, Cecilia Hamilton of Ferdinand, Milissa Hedinger of St. Anthony and Firmina Young of St. Meinrad. Each honoree was presented with a St. Meinrad silver coin.

• Kim Aders is a postal machine operator and bindery helper at Abbey Press; Cecelia Hamilton is assistant treasurer/business manager and budget director in the Business Office; Milissa Hedinger is cashier and office assistant at The Scholar Shop; and Firmina Young is head baker for Food Services.
