Enrollment expected to increase at John Paul the Great

By MARY ANN HUGHES (Message staff writer)

John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Jasper opened its doors in August of 2009. It is located in the parish center at St. Joseph Church, and Elizabeth Flatt is the principal.

“We have doubled our enrollment for 2010-2011,” she reports, “which is very exciting!

“We had six students this year but recently added an additional one for the remainder of this school year.

“We also have six new students enrolled for next year. We are still continuing to work on enrollment by meeting with families who have interest and also allowing potential students to spend a day with us to see if this environment is right for them.

“I anticipate our enrollment numbers growing even more over the next few months and would be thrilled to see seven to 12 additional students.”

The school will add a junior class during the 2010-2011 school year. “We are adding a number of new courses to the curriculum including Algebra II, U.S. History, Spanish III, English 11/Biblical Literature, Theology 11, and Advanced Careers.”
