43 earn degrees from St. Meinrad

Graduates of St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology were awarded master’s degrees on May 8. Graduates accepted their diplomas from Benedictine Archabbot Justin DuVall of St. Meinrad Archabbey and chairman of the School of Theology’s Board of Trustees.

The convocation address was given by Dr. Tom Walters, the school’s academic dean since 2002, who is returning to fulltime teaching in the fall. “While each generation has its unique understanding of how best to share the light of faith and to enculturate the Good News in their time and space,” he told the graduates, “all catechists and catechetical leaders have a responsibility to honor their colleagues who have gone before and to support those who follow.”

Master of Divinity degrees were awarded to students from St. Meinrad Archabby and the dioceses of Little Rock, Tulsa, Owensboro, Memphis, Biloxi, Phoenix and Green Bay in the United States, and from the Diocese of Busan, South Korea.

Master of Arts Degrees in Catholic Philosophical Studies were awarded to students from St. Meinrad Archabby, the Archdiocese of Louisville, the Archdocese of Indianapolis, and the dioceses of Evansville, Knoxville, Lafayette-in-Indiana, Pueblo and Green Bay.

Seminarians William L. Dunn and Michael Loner from the Diocese of Evansville were among the recipients. Dunn is from Holy Rosary Church, Evansville; Loner, from Holy Family Church, Jasper.
