People We Care About
Following is a feature in the Message, designed to help draw together the People of God in southwestern Indiana. Readers are invited to submit information about people who may benefit by some extra prayers and attention.
• Prayers are requested for Father Ray Kuper, the sacramental minister at St. Theresa Church in Evansville. Last week, he suffered a stroke and was hospitalized at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
On May 14, Deacon David Seibert, pastoral life coordinator at St. Theresa Church, wrote, “His brother is in from Florida and is with him.
“He said the doctors confirmed that he had a stroke. The only significant effect has been a slight droop on the right side of his face and his speech is slurred. The MRI detected some blockage in the carotid artery and there is a lump in the heart they are still studying. He will be consulting with a cardiologist later today. They also plan to start him on physical therapy and speech therapy.
“He’s feeling fine other than a little frustrated with the speech difficulty. He has no idea yet of how long they plan to keep him at St. Mary’s. When I left he was sitting up and eating a big lunch.”
