Principals and administrators from Catholic schools in the Diocese of Evansville had their first chance to meet the new Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Daryl Hagan, May 17.
Hagan met informally at a standup breakfast at the Catholic Center, organized by Donna Halverson, the current Director of Catholic Schools, who will become one of two assistant superintendents when Hagan officially begins in his position, June 28.
Michelle Priar was also present, meeting with her colleagues for the first time since she was named as an assistant superintendent. Priar is currently the principal at St. James School in Haubstadt.
Priar said she enjoyed her work with Catholic school students “at the building level” and now was looking forward to working for all of the Catholic students in the diocese.
Hagan also noted that it was a difficult time for any of them to be away from their schools, as the academic year was nearing its end. Hagan is principal of Holy Name School in Henderson.
Towards the conclusion of the breakfast event, participants gathered around tables and introduced themselves to the new Superintendent.
Hagan was introduced to the group by Halverson, and immediately thanked her for her two years of doing the work soon to be held by the superintendent and two assistants.
Hagan repeated his pledge, made at a news conference when his position was announced, that his priority was making sure that all students “would live in the light of Christ.”
