Fitness

“Get Fit” Adult Fitness Program, Mondays and Wednes-days, 10-11:15 a.m., Memorial Hospital Wellness Center at Southside Office, Jasper; “Get Fit” designed to help with balance and coordination using low impact strength and flexibility exercises; participants will use resistance bands and small hand weights; cost $5 per session, for details or to register call (812) 481-2399.

Health Day

Free Health Day, June 18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Ohio Township Central Library, 4111 Lakeshore Drive, Newburgh; hosted by St. Mary’s and Historic Newburgh Kiwanis; free for children and families currently without insurance and without a dentist; help will be available to help families needing assistance applying for Indiana Hoosier Healthwise Insurance for their children, and information about asthma, healthy eating and other health details, staff will be on-site to provide oral screenings for children, dental education for children and parents and dental supplies; for information call (812) 485-5864.

Childbirth Refresher Class, June 17, 7-9:30 p.m., Memorial Hospital’s Medical Arts Building Conference Center, Jasper; reviews labor and delivery; open to those who have already taken the preparation classes, free to those delivering at Memorial Hospital; for more information or to enroll call (812) 481-2399.

Safe Sitter Classes, June 17, 8:30 a.m-3:45 p.m., parents/guardians are encouraged to attend a 15 minute ceremony honoring the students at 3:15 p.m.; St. Mary’s Medical Center, Evansville; teaches boys and girls ages 11-13 how to handle emergencies when caring for children; $55 fee includes student manual, messenger bag, list of important phone numbers, flashlight and other supplies; $15 scholarships available based on financial need; participants need to bring a sack lunch; for information and to enroll your child or babysitter call Debbie Davidson at (812) 485-5607.

Preparation for Childbirth Class, Thursdays, June 17, 24 and July 1, 7-9:30 p.m., Memorial Hospital Medical Arts Building Conference Room, Jasper; classes cover normal pregnancy and fetal development, labor and delivery; recommended that both mother and support person attend classes; no charge to those who are delivering at Memorial Hospital; call (812) 481-2399 for information.
