Time to plan for Christmas?

The Committee on Divine Worship of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops recently reminded parishes to plan ahead for Christmas. Portions of the committee’s news-letter were distributed by Matt Miller, diocesan director of worship.

“In 2010, December 25 falls on a Saturday, which means that a parish may find itself with its customary slate of Christmas Eve/Christmas Day Masses, only to have to follow them up with the Masses for Sunday (which will be the feast of the Holy Family in 2010).

“This scheduling will become even more complicated for priests with multiple parishes.

“Before the time comes, parishes may want to examine their Mass schedules for that weekend and see if they will need to make any changes or adjustments not only for the benefit of the people, but also for the benefit and well-being of the priest and other liturgical ministers.”
