Benedictine monk ordained a priest

Benedictine Father Thomas Gricoski, a monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey, was ordained a priest June 20 by Archbishop Daniel Buechlein of Indianapolis. The ordination was held in St. Meinrad’s Archabbey Church.

Father Thomas, 29, is the son of Michael and Donna Gricoski of Frackville, Pa. He was a member of St. Ann Church in Frackville and attended North Schuylkill High School in Fountain Springs, Pa.

He earned a BA in philosophy from the University of Scranton in 2002, and an MA in philosophy from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium in 2004. He served a pastoral intern year at Immac-ulate Conception Parish in Scranton.

In May, Father Thomas was awarded a Master of Divinity degree from St. Meinrad Sem-inary and School of Theology. He joined the Benedictine monastery at St. Meinrad in 2005 and professed his solemn vows in 2009.

He will soon continue his studies in philosophy at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium.
