Daryl Hagan, the new superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Evansville, began his first official day of work on June 28. In a video message on the Message Facebook site that day, he spoke of “how pleased” he was “to be able to serve the people of southwestern Indiana.”

Hagan invited parents to contact him or the individual school offices to register a child for the coming school year.

The Catholic school theme for the year is “Make a Difference” and Hagan says the schools “will be making a difference in the lives of our families, our parishes and communities.”

Hagan, whose professional carreer has been in Catholic Schools in Kentucky, said among his first tasks is becoming familiar with how Catholic schools operate in Indiana.

Hagan’s staff includes two assistant superintendents, Donna Halverson, a veteran of the office, and Michelle Priar, formerly principal at St. James School in Haubstadt, who comes to the diocesan offices in July.

Angie Johnson, formerly at Resurrection School in Evansville, is the new principal at St. James School. Theresa Berendes is leaving St. Theresa School to accept the principal position at Resurrection.

St. Theresa and Holy Spirit are currently seeking new principals for the 2010-2011 academic year. St. Theresa, with an alternate calendar, begins classes July 26.
