A new Eucharistic Adoration chapel is now open in Vincennes, located inside St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1837 South Hart Street.
The chapel, named in honor of “Jesus King of Angels,” officially opened this week, beginning with a Benediction Service on Sunday evening, July 11.
Participants included Father David Fleck, pastor of St. Vincent Church and St. John the Baptist Church in Vincennes; Father John Sasse, assistant pastor with Father Fleck; Deacon Earl Ruppel of St. Thomas Church in Vincennes, and Chris Droste, a seminarian in summer ministry in Vincennes.
Currently over 100 members from six parishes, St. Philip Neri in Bicknell and the Vincennes parishes of Sacred Heart, St. Vincent de Paul, St. John the Baptist, Old Cathedral and St. Thomas, will be spending time with the Blessed Sacrament three days a week. The adoration schedule is Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Wednesday, from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Thursday, from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. The chapel is open to the general public during these hours.
About 85 people attended the opening service, including a group from Our Lady of Hope Church in Washington, where a perpetual adoration chapel has been available for almost five years.
The goal for the Vincennes chapel is to “grow into” a perpetual chapel. Committee members are accepting sign-ups from parishioners.
Committee members include Sacred Heart parishioners, Zoe Cannon, Jeff Jacobs, Julie Marchino and Emily Giordano; St. Philip Neri parishioners, Louise Branch, Leah Singleton, Mary Cullison, Margaret Strange and Joan Dupire; St. John parishioners, Lita Matick, Don Biggs, Ron Shafer, Jaclyn Snyder and Dick Vieck; Pat Earley at Old Cathedral, Judy Rup-pel at St. Thomas, and Judy Bilskie and Nancy Ket-chum at St. Vincent de Paul.
Participating clergy include Fathers Jason Gries, David Fleck, John Sasse and John Schipp, and Deacons Phil Pierpont and Earl Ruppel.
Forms are available in the chapel for those who wish to make a time commitment. For information contact Zoe Cannon, (812) 882-0444 or mary.zoe.cannon@gmail.com.
