Kenneth J. SchultheisKenneth J. Schultheis is Memorial High School’s first executive director, named by the board of trustees to the newly created position for the school in Evansville, and formally announced July 15.

Schultheis is a Jasper native with a degree in education from Indiana University and experience on the faculty and in coaching positions at Washington Catholic High School for five years and in the Greater Jasper School Corporation for 10 years.

A news release from the high school board of trustees notes that the new executive director’s father and eight siblings went to Memorial High School, and his uncle was a teacher there.

“When we moved to Evansville, my wife and I made proximity to Memorial High School our top priority when purchasing a home,” Schultheis said.

Ken and his wife Janet have three children, all attending parochial schools in Evansville.

Schultheis was a commercial account executive for Hub Commercial Insurance from 2000 to 2009, and most recently was part of the commercial accounts team at Evansville’s Schultheis Insurance Agency.

“The opportunity to team with Principal Gwen Godsey and the dedicated faculty and staff . . . is something I am very much looking forward to,” Schultheis said. “The executive director position at Memorial is much more than a job. It is a vocation.”

“Ken’s strong faith, academic and business experience, proven leadership and exceptional communication skills along with his commitment to the values of our Catholic schools, make him a great fit to be the leader of Memorial High School,” said Chris Wolking, who chairs the board and also served as co-chair of the search committee.

Schultheis’ appointment is effective immediately. As executive director, “he will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the school, which include academics, institutional advancement, enrollment, marketing and the spiritual culture that evokes the Reitz Memorial tradition,” the news release stated.

Father Bernie Etienne, Dean of the Evansville East Deanery and member of the board said the selection of Schultheis “reflects not only on how well Ken’s experience and skills matched the attributes we were looking for, but also his enormous passion for, and belief in, the values that Memorial High School seeks to instill in our young people.”
