‘Emerging implementation plan’ testing ‘recipes’ for the diocese

“I want my parish to stay open and I want a priest to be there.”

“I want a school for my children that is really Catholic.”

“Good Masses, good preaching.”

“Do something for our young people after they finish high school.”

Over 1,000 participants in the Diocese of Evansville expressed such concerns, and in response, a strategic planning group has compiled a set of nine strategic initiatives to deal with these concerns.

Bishop Gerald A. Gettelfinger used the imagery of a wheat harvest to describe the process of gathering these concerns, threshing out the kernals and grinding them into flour.

What will we do with the flour we have milled and sifted? It depends on the recipes, and how we follow them.

What is the recipe for a viable parish?

What conditions are required to operate a Catholic school? What makes a school Catholic?

In all, nine such “recipes” are being developed by groups and committees. Following the link below, you will find a brief explanation of the issues and the intiatives, all part of the emerging implementation plan.
