Appointments at Archabbey

John Wilson has been appointed general manager of Abbey Press, St. Meinrad.

He has been overseeing its day-to-day operations for the past year, in addition to his duties as treasurer/business manager of St. Meinrad Archabbey, which operates Abbey Press. Previous general manager Gerald Wilhite resigned in 2009.

Wilson has worked for St. Meinrad for 32 years. He will manage Abbey Press, and also lead Abbey Press’ newest business venture, Snail’s Pace.

Benedictine Father Adrian Burke will succeed John Wilson as the treasurer/business manager for St. Meinrad Archabbey and Semi-nary and School of The-ology. Father Adrian has been serving as assistant business manager since 2009.

He came to St. Meinrad in 1990 as a seminarian for the Archdio-cese of Indianapolis. He entered the monastery as a novice in 1992 and professed his vows as a Benedictine monk in 1993. He professed his solemn vows in 1996.

New Serra Club officers

New officers of the Serra Club of Evansville have been installed for two-year terms. The new president is Richard Clements of St. Bene-dict Cathedral. Vice-presidents are, for Prog-rams, Dr. Bill Schmidt of St. Benedict; for Membership, Joe Cook of St. Benedict, and for Communications, Richard Bahel of St. Joseph Church, Vanderburgh County.

The secretary is Thomas M. Ryder of Christ the King, treasurer is John East of Resurrection and the trustees are Tim McGuire of Good Shepherd, Theresa Forster of St. Theresa, and Ruth Miller of Holy Rosary, all in Evansville.

The Serra Club of Evansville was organized more than 55 years ago as part of Serra Inter-national. Its mission is to promote and support vocations to the priesthood and vowed religious life.

Club activities during the year include Sisters’ Night Out (a pizza and bowling party at Willow Bowling Center), a dinner for deacons and their wives, cooking for the annual Vocation Office picnic, a Vocation Awareness program and luncheon for eighth graders selected from the parishes in the deaneries of Evansville, Newburgh and Princeton as well as presenting Youth Service Awards to students in those parishes.

Meetings are held at noon on the first Friday of each month in the Holy Trinity Parish Cen-ter in Evansville.

Photo misidentified

Dr. Kristin Werne was recently appointed to the Medical Staff at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and has joined Doc-tors Scott Beckman and Steven Hopf at Jasper Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Jennifer Keller of Evanston, Ind., has been promoted to the position of director of Abbey Caskets in St. Mein-rad. She succeeds Pat-rick Clark of St. Croix, Ind., who is currently the director of physical facilities for the archabbey.
