Classes
Safe Sitter Classes, July 27 or July 29, 8:30 a.m-3:45 p.m., parents/guardians are encouraged to attend a 15 minute ceremony honoring the students at 3:15; St. Mary’s, Evansville; teaches boys and girls ages 11-13 how to handle emergencies when caring for children; $55 fee includes student manual, messenger bag, list of important phone numbers, flashlight and other supplies; $15 scholarships available based on financial need; participants need to bring a sack lunch; for information and to enroll your child or babysitter call Debbie Davidson at (812) 485-5607.
Supersitter, July 26 or Aug. 4, 8:30.-11:30 a.m., Memorial Hospital Community Relations Classroom, Southside Office, Jasper; class covers basics of babysitting including care and safety of infants and children, play activities, basic first aid and getting along with children; demonstrations on diapering, holding, feeding; open to persons 10-14 years old; class size limited; $20 fee; to register call (812) 481-2399.

Childbirth Refresher Class, Aug. 5, 7-9:30 p.m., Memorial Hospital’s Medical Arts Building Confer-ence Center, Jasper; reviews labor and delivery; open to those who have already taken the preparation classes; free to those delivering at Memorial Hospital; for more information or to enroll call (812) 481-2399.
Preparation for Childbirth Class, Thursdays, Aug. 5, 12 and 19, 7-9:30 p.m., Memorial Hospital Medical Arts Building Conference Room, Jasper; classes cover normal pregnancy and fetal development, labor and delivery; recommended that both mother and support person attend classes; no charge to those who are delivering at Memorial Hospital; (812) 481-2399.
“Creating Hope” for Cancer Patients, sessions first and second Tuesday of each month, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center Conference Room, Jasper; sessions use art and creative expression as coping mechanisms for patients with cancer and are designed for cancer patients, their families and caregivers; art materials and instructional book are available at each session; sessions are free by pre-registration is required by calling Tracy Wright at (812) 481-2079.
