20 years of service

Teachers in diocesan schools recognized for anniversaries

Teachers who completed significant years of service at the end of the 2009-2010 school year will be recognized at the annual Back to School gathering Aug. 5 at St. John the Baptist School in Newburgh.

TWENTY YEARS

• Kim Bell is a 20-year member of the faculty at Memorial High School in Evansville. She teaches driver education and physical education.

• Caryn Brummett, a third grade teacher, has 20 years of service at Washington Catholic Elementary School in Washington.

• Mary Kay Elpers teaches grammar and science at St. Joseph School, Vanderburgh County. She joined the faculty there in 2001.

From 1992 to 1998 she taught at Corpus Christi School in Evansville, and from 1986 to 1992, she taught at St. Wendel School in St. Wendel.

• Kathy Greene teaches second grade at Resurrection School in Evansville; she joined the faculty there in 1990.

• Chris Hinkle teaches third grade at Precious Blood School in Jasper. She is a 20-year member of the faculty there.

• Tracey Unfried has been the principal at Holy Cross School in Fort Branch since 2002. She taught at Good Shepherd School in Evansville from 1992 to 2002, and at Holy Spirit School, also in Evansville, from 1990 to 1992.

• Kathryn Lyons is a music teacher at Westside Catholic School in Evansville, where she is a 20-year member of the faculty.

• Third grade teacher Janie Mesker has 20 years of service at Westside Catholic School in Evansville.

• St. Wendel principal Ron Pittman has served in the Diocese of Evansville for 20 years. He has been principal at St. Wendel since 2004, and previously served at Precious Blood School in Jasper from 1993 to 2004.

From 1992 to 1993, he taught at Rivet Middle/High School in Vincennes, and from 1990 to 1992, he taught at Flaget Elementary School in Vincennes.

• Michelle Prior, the new assistant superintendent of schools, began her service in the Diocese of Evansville in 1990 at St. Theresa School in Evansville. She also served at St. Joseph School in Vanderburgh County before becoming principal at St. James School in Haubstadt in 2003.

• Beverly Schweiss is a 20-year member of the faculty at St. John the Baptist School in Newburgh, where she teaches religion.

• First grade teacher Ellen Utley has served at Sts. Peter and Paul School in Haubstadt for 20 years.
