Colts President, Bill Polian, to speak at Tomorrow’s WorkForce luncheon
Mater Dei and Memorial High Schools announced Bill Polian, president of the Indianapolis Colts, as the keynote speaker for the annual Tomorrow’s Work-force Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Centre in Evansville.
Polian is in his thirteenth season as president of the Colts. He oversees all football and administrative aspects of the Colts and has established a record of achievement that ranks among the best in the NFL’s 90 year history.
The Tomorrow’s Workforce Luncheon program offers individuals and businesses an opportunity to partner with the Catholic high schools and assist in the program’s main areas of funding — technology, science and faculty development. It is one of the largest events benefitting Mater Dei and Memorial high schools.
In addition, student recipients of the Evansville Catholic High Schools’ Leadership Award will be honored and attend the luncheon. Forty-three students will be recognized for their academic and extracurricular success.
“These students are some of our best and brightest. We know these young adults are our future community leaders,” stated Ken Schultheis, Memor-ial’s executive director.
“We are thrilled to have Bill Polian as our guest speaker this year. His commitment and support of Catholic education is well known and we are honored that he would share his time and thoughts with community leaders and Colts fans here in Evansville. His success on the field is matched by the manner in which his Colts have achieved such success,” commented Timothy Dickel, Mater Dei’s executive director.
Since Polian’s 1998 arrival, no team has had more playoff appearances than the Colts. The Colts are the only team to make the playoffs 10 times in the last 11 seasons, reaching the divisional, conference or league title round in six of the past seven years and advancing to the Super Bowl twice.
“The values that all of us espouse and have benefited from prove, day after day, to be effective and enduring in education. Now, more than ever, the mission of Catholic education is critical to the continued growth and prosperity of our country. It’s up to each of us, as beneficiaries, to help pave the way for those who follow, just as those who preceded us paved the way,” acknowledged Polian as he spoke at the celebration of Catholic education in Indianapolis this spring.
Sponsorships for individuals and businesses to attend the luncheon are available by contacting Mater Dei High School at (812) 421-5727 and Memorial High School (812) 474-2943
