Tony Melendez, noted guitarist, composer, singer and songwriter, will be performing in Jasper on Sept. 22.

He was born without arms. His mother took the drug Thalidomide while pregnant which caused his disability, and he learned to play the guitar with his feet.

He will be performing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Jasper as part of the Jasper Deanery Tailgate Party.

The idea for the party was developed with the DREs and CREs in the Jasper Deanery for middle school and high school students, but all are welcome to attend.

There will also be a 1 p.m. performance for students at Holy Family and Precious Blood students.

There is no charge for the event, but free will donations for the Tailgate Fund will be accepted.
