Benedictine sister transfers to Ferdinand monastery

Sister Karen JosephSister Karen Joseph, a Benedictine Sister of Perpetual Adoration, made a permanent transfer from the Benedictine monastery in Clyde, Mo., to the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand in a Sept. 19 ceremony.

Sister Karen, a native of Olean, N.Y. made perpetual profession in 1975. She studied theology and scripture at Conception Abbey Seminary in St. Louis, and monastic studies at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. She served in leadership as subprioress and prioress in her religious community and also as prioress general for the Congregation of Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Prior to those positions, she ministered in education as a teacher and principal.

In October 2007, Sister Karen began the process for a permanent transfer to the Ferdinand monastery. She was officially accepted into the Ferdinand Benedictine community in July 2010. Currently, she serves as assistant director of Spirituality Ministry of the Sisters of St. Benedict.
