Father Martin named pastor in Daylight

Bishop Gerald. A. Gettelfinger has announced clergy appointments which affect both St. John Church in Daylight and St. John the Baptist Church in Newburgh.
• Father David Martin has been appointed as the new pastor of St. John Church in Daylight. Father John Silva, who had served as pastor since May of 2009, resigned Aug. 26, 2010, and is currently on a three-year leave of absence.
• Deacon David Rice, currently assigned to the Newburgh parish, has been appointed as the Deacon to the Daylight parish.
Both appointments are effective as of October 6, 2010.
• Father Martin, 60, was ordained to the priesthood on May 14, 1976. He has served in parishes in Mount Vernon, Princeton, Evansville, Haubstadt, New Harmony, Boonville, Washington, Ferdinand and Newburgh.
He has also served on the staff at Mater Dei High School in Evansville.
• Deacon Rice was ordained to the diaconate on July 9, 2005. He serves as the associate clergy personnel director, and has served at St. Mary Church in Evansville and St. John the Bapist Church in Newburgh.
